What Do You Need to Focus on to Get Results?

What I see again and again is that business owners in nearly all areas of their business are focusing on completely the wrong things when it comes to getting the results that they desire. So it is no surprise that they are not getting the results that they deserve (and in some cases they are not getting any results at all!)

Let me give you an example that demonstrates this clearly:

A business owner, let’s call him ‘Joe’, is trying desperately to get more traffic to his website. Sales are slow and he needs more sales coming in to pay the bills that are piling up!  Joe thinks that getting more traffic to his site will increase his sales, after all it’s just a numbers game right? If he gets in front of enough people then the sales will increase, right?

So Joe goes out and spends lots of money on getting more traffic – paying an SEO company, spending money on advertising and spending lots of time marketing his website.

The result?

Well not much changed and Joe is in big trouble and completely dis-heartened…. but what went wrong? Joe did all the right things and got more traffic but the desired result of getting more sales never happened.

What do you need to focus on to get results?Well because Joe didn’t sit down first and work out where his focus really should have been it cost him badly. Joe needed to know what was actually going on in his business, and to see where the improvements needed to be made and then focus on that. If he had done this he would have seen that the traffic wasn’t the problem….it was actually his website.

You see, his website wasn’t converting visitors into clients, and it wasn’t even converting visitors into interested prospects. So no matter how much traffic he got, even if it was really qualified and targeted traffic, he would not see a huge difference in his business.

Now I’m not saying that Joe should never focus on getting more traffic, but he had to focus on fixing the core problem first…. which was website conversions and then he could focus on getting more traffic.

There are endless examples of how most business owners are doing this – focusing on the wrong thing – in their own business. It might be that they are focusing on paperwork instead of going out and getting leads. It might be focusing on social media when really they just need to pick up the phone and make some calls to get sales. It might be that they are jumping from ‘latest new buzz thing’ to ‘latest new buzz thing’ and are forgetting to work on the foundations of creating a solid business….. the list really does go on and on and on.

So my question for you is “What should you be focusing on to get the results that you want?”

You need to look at your business as a whole.  Where are the gaps, what areas do I need to focus on?

If you work this out and go and take action on that you will find that your desired results will come a lot faster and easier for you.
