When the results don’t match the effort….

Ever feel like you are putting in the effort, putting in the hard yards in your business and working your butt off, but the results that are showing up do not seem to match the effort and input that is going in?

I have a lot of business owners tell me this, I’ve certainly experienced this before myself as well, and it can be really frustrating – leaving you feeling like you are doing so much work and the big results SHOULD be showing up but they are not. It is so frustrating, right?

The main thing that usually always causes this to happen is that there is a ‘gap’.

There’s a gap in the business that hasn’t been seen by the business owner and so this gap can cause the results in a business to stall or only increase very, very slowly.

Sandy Canyon along Devil's GardenLet me tell you what I mean by a ‘gap’. You see, we get a lot of people that come to us that have done a lot of learning and training with business “Guru’s”.

They have invested in themselves, spent thousands or tens of thousands of dollars learning to grow their business. They have even taken the crucial step of taking action on what they learnt and implemented the strategies that the guru’s showed them.

But what happened? Not a lot. They get some small wins or some small results, but overall not much changes, and so they end up believing that investing in learning is not valuable or a complete rip off, OR they believe that they are a complete failure because they couldn’t get the guru’s “turn key strategy that even a 10 year old could do” working.

So what is REALLY going on here?

Well it is because the guru’s usually don’t look at the business as a whole. They work on one specific niche area – like email marketing, or product launches or video marketing or sales presentations or blog creation…..or whatever it might be, and then they promise BIG results.

But here is the thing, you need to look at the business as whole, and this is where we are completely different to many others in the industry.

Business is a complicated machine with many working parts, and if one of those parts is not working properly or is missing altogether (the gap) then the machine can’t work and get the results that it is supposed to get, even if you focus on 1 area extensively.

And a lot of the time there is only a couple of small gaps that really need to be fixed in a business to get the results flooding in. Once that is done, the business is off and away, getting results faster and easier than ever before.

In fact many of our clients get results extremely fast (a few short weeks) after starting to work with us because once the gaps are found and worked on, things fall into place.

This is why we get so much amazing feedback from our clients – things like “you are light years ahead of anyone in the industry” or “you are up there with Bob Proctor and Tony Robbins, you have a winning formula” – because we help them identify the gaps and fix the gaps, and look to be honest there’s hardly anyone else that does this.

Here’s the shocking truth though, until the gap is identified and then fixed it really doesn’t matter how much more “effort” and “work” you put into your business, the results still won’t come easily until the gap(s) are sorted.

Businesses can have multiple gaps - some are crucial to fix and others are not

So you could be working your butt off on your marketing, trying to get clients, working 80 hour weeks and becoming absolutely exhausted….it doesn’t matter how hard you work, if you have a gap in your mindset that “it is hard to make money” then you will continue to struggle.

Or say that there is never any cash left in your business, yet you have the marketing and sales sorted – clients are flooding in but there is no cash in the bank account. Then maybe you have a gap in your business model where your margins are too low, or maybe there is a gap in your mindset around getting ahead – either way, it doesn’t matter how many more clients you get you will still never get ahead and get a healthy bank balance because of that gap that needs to be fixed.

Now there are so many ‘gaps’ that a business could have and some are crucial ones that NEED to be sorted and others are not so crucial – the trick here is to identify those ones that are crucial, fix them quickly so that the results come.

This is one area that we specialise in, identifying where the gaps are in a business, fixing them and watching the results come in.  If you want to discover where your gaps are then check out our upcoming event Transform Your Inner Game here.
